The Key Soap sponsored Heritage Theatre Series kicks off this Saturday, the 4th of July at 4pm with WOGBε JεKε: the birth of a nation.
WOGBε JεKε is a Ga*  phrase which literally means “we are from a far”. The title of the play foreshadows the actions therein. To people who understand the Ga language, they will expect the journey (gbε) of a people (wo) from a distant (jεkε) land. The journey is however not given away in the title. However, the journey will not be inferred as a mere migration with “a birth of a nation” in mind. The journey of situations from the past to the present: the history of the nation, Ghana, will come to play in this play. The historical account of events of these people will be one that will be mirrored in the National Theatre. King Agokoli, Ntim Gyakari, Yaa Asantewaa…
